EYES Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Ensure centre complies with the Ministry of Education Child Care and Early Years Act and the City of Toronto criteria
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement creative child programs that are age-appropriate
- Develop and grow philosophies and practices to meet the children’s needs
- Foster an environment that respects children’s strengths, rights, and needs
- Oversee programming content and age-appropriateness of programming
- Ensure that children receive healthy, nutritious and balanced lunches and snacks in accordance with all applicable public health
- Maintain accurate records on each child including medical, consent forms, and attendance records
- Lead staff by motivating, mentoring and coaching
- Promote staff performance through frequent formal and informal constructive feedback and staff evaluations
- Identify training and professional development opportunities for staff
- Manage the logistical elements of staffing such as organizing staffing requirements and schedules, maintaining accurate and up-to-date staff records, and scheduling staff meetings
- Responsible for maximizing enrolment through promoting, marketing and advertising the centre
- Pursue alternative funding, such as subsidies, grants, fundraising, and donations
- Manage and oversee the finances and accounting of the centre: including payroll, staff hours, and accounts receivable and payable
- Make sure safety and cleanliness maintained in the classrooms and in the centre
- Maintain the quality and raise the standard of the centre
- Maintain ongoing and regular communication with parents through various methods such as emails and newsletters.
- Reporting to, and communicating closely with the Executive Director
- Ensuring that all legislation pertaining to the CCEYA and Operating criteria are implemented
- Working closely with Executive Director and Assist the ED in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the centre
- Lead and Guide staff in the development and implementation of children’s programming
- Ability to work as an effective team member, fostering a child-centered, family-friendly atmosphere
- Assist in age-appropriate and positive Behaviour Management of children
- Communicating and supporting families, with a high ESL component and diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Lead in regards to managing external human resources (such as volunteers, students)
- Lead in managing facilities and ensure a safe and healthy environment
- Able to support Executive Director in the implementation of policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent leadership and management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks
- Ability to delegate responsibilities where appropriate
- Strong verbal and written communications, creativity, interpersonal skills, time management, and organizational abilities
- Familiarity with different culture, traditions and practices is an asset
